Jan 21 Destin FL

Back in November 2020, one of our august group mentioned that Randy should set up a January golf week in Austin, TX. He never moved on this because the idea was out in left field, it was a two day drive one way, it is not known as a golf mecca, and it is about the same latitude (temperature) as Mount Pleasant, SC.

Then, out of the blue, the golf guru Stev called early January and said that we should pick the weeks in January that we couldn’t vacation. Suddenly, the trip was on as the week was picked. Randy tossed out three recommended locations, the Riddler found a fourth that we agreed to, and off we went on a short fuse to Destin, FL.

Kurtz found a great rental, set the menu, picked some sample courses to play and we met for a week of golf. He also created evening culinary delights for the entire week. Riddler and Stev fueled us each day with superb breakfasts.

Randy was only along for the ride the entire week as the boize catered to him in every imaginable way.

First day rain out, next five days of golf cool but allowed two days of shorts. The movies selected were beyond our range of comprehension and soundly castigated.

Results below show that a cheap beach chair fold the final day by the then stroke leader allowed a crippled Randy to dust Riddler by a couple strokes for overall medalist. Stev was most improved and won the most money but fell one stroke away from grabbing third place. Kurtz was long ball hitter throughout, but his new putter fought him the entire week.

Kurtz took the Master Bedroom.
