Tom Clancy – Like Vince Flynn who died in 2013 and the ongoing Mitch Rapp series he started; Clancy died in 2013 with a great ongoing Jack Ryan series. In both cases, superb authors stepped in and continued the series. For the Clancy series, Mark Greaney (The Gray Man series fame) wrote through #16, since then it has been Marc Cameron (Jericho Quinn series fame). The protagonist started as a CIA analyst and continued up the chain during his exploits. Numbering is mine. Example: Amazon listed my #37 as their #23.
