Rules

This is the page where we try to promote some semblance of rules and fair play over the course of your short visit. Below you will see a general idea of how to fairly place small wagers on our individual Nassau bets. We also investigate the statistics on results vs. stated handicap.

We roll them over through the green during the last week in February in this neck of the woods. The picture of the ball and hole is the distance where we can with some confidence say, “Pick it up, Steve.”

Chance of Shooting Your Handicap or Better

The below table shows you the percentage chance of anyone with a legitimate handicap will have of shooting his handicap or less. Notice if we take an example of Pat with a handicap of 14. The chance that he will shoot a 80 on a course rated 70 would be ONE chance in 87.  80 – 70 = 10 , that is 4 less than his 14 handicap. Very difficult to do. But you would expect him to pull it off every 87 rounds or so. (source USGA.org)

The Riddler’s Creation

Otherwise known as: Prox, Low, Total, Birdie, Roll, ReRoll

Also known as: What?, Give Me A Break, You’re Kidding, Hand Me Your Wallet

Here is my understanding of the game:

Played with four players, two to a team. Points awarded per hole to the team are as follows:

  • Closest ball to the pin on the green in regulation – 1 point
  • Ball having low score (no points for tie) – 2 points
  • Low team total score (no points for tie) – 2 points
  • Birdie – 1 point

If a team gets all six points, instead of six points, the team gets twelve points.

The team that has the most aggregate points for the round tees off first. After seeing the tee shots, the trailing team can Roll them (double the bet). After seeing the trailing team tee off, the leading team can ReRoll them (double the doubled bet). There is no Roll possible on the first hole or if the match is tied.

The eighteenth hole is an automatic Roll and ReRoll.

Final Rule: Pat wins.
