RTJ November 2021

This was the seventh annual RTJ adventure, where four intrepid warriors ventured into Alabama to prove their mettle. (Second visit to the Birmingham area) Seven days of golf scheduled, seven days of golf played, six days of sun and great weather, one day with clouds and a 20-minute shower. We can live with that.

One guy had a bad wheel and is replacing the culprit following this event, knee. He knew that his week would suffer a bit, but it was fine. One guy had 14 birdies during the week. One guy prepared spectacular feasts for the evening and two guys created sensational breakfasts, while the remaining guy stayed well out of the way. The “Expert” charcoal grill was a treat and one guy is getting one for Christmas.

Based on the Alabama Point Game, Kurtz and Steev showed most improvement year over year, improving their handicaps two points.

A great disappointment was that we found Limestone Springs golf course under renovation. We will have to fold that course in during a future event. We also found that Ross Bridge is a difficult spread from the White tees. We planned on using the Teals on the second play, but the first hole played about 350 yards as a par five, so we went back to the Whites and took our punishment.

Based on the courses, the rental house location, the weather, and the magnificence of the host, there was talk about using this area again next year. For planning purposes, here is who had the Master Bedroom so far at RTJ:
2015: Pat
2016: Randy and Steve (according to Curt)
2017: None
2018: Curt
2019: Pat
2020: Curt
2021 Destin: Curt
2021 RTJ: Stev
2022 Destin: Curt
2022 RTJ: Randy’s turn
