“The History”
McKinney, Texas – 1984, the saga begins:
Leo, Larry, Randy, Mike, Steve, Ron
Long ago, individual thrill-seeking adventurers from improbable high schools, diverse backgrounds, and unrelated skills sought the real answers in life. Inexorably, these idealistic young men descended on Morningside College and gravitated toward the most infamous fraternity on campus. The original fraternity charter included the words “Triple Secret Probation” as the starting point.
Following graduation, several of the most notorious decided that they were not yet sick of each other’s company and decided to continue their quest of life’s meaning together. They decided to meet once a year on the lush golf course grass in Arkansas/Texas/Mars to pursue this dream. Of note, they did ensure that everyone was properly hydrated throughout the annual renaissance. The plan turned sour when in 1984 they invited Swingus Maximus to join them.
That error in judgment haunts each of them to this day as the uncouth Mr. Maximus demands their presence once a year in South Carolina. Like lemmings, they trek southward each year to participate in the:
South Carolina Annual Golf Invitational
The venues have been:
- 1988 – Myrtle Beach
- 1989 – Hilton Head
- 1990 thru 1994 – Kiawah Island
- 1995 thru 2017 – Isle of Palms
- 2018 thru 2037 – Myrtle Beach
